The camelid antibodies (a.k.a. nanobodies) serves the perfect base for a drug candidate as they are single-chain and smaller than a regular immunoglobulin. Advantages of alpaca nanobodies

A recombinant target-specific nanobody (VHH) is a protein which is single-chain, smaller and generally more a stablet than a normal antibody. Another advantage is that the production cost is less than half of a normal recombinant antibody. Your unique VHH can be (1) fused into functional domain systems for drug development, (2) fused with a tag for detection of your choice, to be used in assays, and (3) humanized.
